Description

The number of students with disabilities in our nation’s public schools is growing, yet the number of teachers prepared to support them is declining. The teacher shortage issue predated the pandemic, but the pandemic is pouring fuel on the already smoldering fire. And the crisis is much worse for our students with disabilities. As such, the implications of teacher shortages are creating a particularly heightened crisis for our neurodiverse population. In this session, we will hear from teachers and administrators with quantitative and qualitative data collected by a new nationwide survey. We’ll also examine solutions for models that uplift our special education teachers who work with the neurodiverse through effective teacher training that doesn’t require time away from the classroom. Together, let’s better support our special education population. https://www.disabilityscoop.com/2022/06/24/across-us-special-education-enrollment-on-the-rise/29920/
