Lorrie Owens
Chief Technology Officer
San Mateo County Office of Education
Profile
Lorrie Owens is the Chief Technology Officer for the San Mateo County Office of Education in Redwood City, CA. She is the first female and the only African American to lead a technology division for a county office of education in California. Lorrie serves on the Board for the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), and has served as the president of the Board for California IT in Education (CITE). She has served as the chairperson for the California Technology Steering Committee. Lorrie is a Certified Chief Technology Officer, and taught Organizational Management and Personnel Management in CITE’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Mentor program for many years. Lorrie serves on a number of other boards and commissions both within K12 and in the community at large. She has won a number of awards for her work. Lorrie is a strong advocate for transformational leadership and digital equity in K12 education.
