Description
School districts have faced the challenge of providing remote instruction to students while also ensuring that students with disabilities continue to receive FAPE. For the foreseeable future, districts will be tasked with evaluating potential requests for compensatory educational services - from the IEP level up through possible due process litigation or civil complaints. Attorney Brandon Wright will answer common questions, such as "When is a student entitled to compensatory services? How do we make that determination? And how does the pandemic affect these decisions?" You'll leave this session with a better understanding of when and why a student would qualify for compensatory education, ways for IEP teams to navigate such requests, and prepared for the remedies parents may seek.
