Speaker(s)
Description
Staff from Rutgers-New Brunswick's Digital Classroom Services will discuss the Immersive Synchronous Lecture Halls, which connect 140-person lecture halls on two different campuses so instructors can teach from one room and students can choose their most convenient campus. These spaces were introduced to address the growing need for Rutgers students to travel by bus to class. The project is a novel attempt to use video conference equipment typically deployed in conference rooms to connect large teaching spaces in a manner that encourages interaction and reduces the feeling of distance. In this session, you will gain a greater understanding of the technical underpinning of large-scale video conferencing, as well as the teaching and learning considerations that result from video conferencing. This session is presented by CCUMC, a UB Tech program partner.
