Kind Earth Growers is a wholesale nursery located in Ottsville, Pa, founded to meet the demand for native wetland and dry-site perennials used in ecological restoration, storm-water management, and functional landscape design.

Our plants are seed grown from open pollinated, native populations to help preserve regional genetic diversity. We strive to produce high quality plants which provide biological fuction for green infrastructure projects, and are the backbone for ecologically resilient native landscapes.  

Our plants are grown in PL72's, DP50's, and 4" containers.

    Pontederia cordata (Pickerelweed)...

  • Pontederia cordata (Pickerelweed) thrives in quiet, fresh water areas in depths up to 6"-12".  Pontederia cordata flowers from summer to fall, with the flower stalks reaching to about 2 feet above the water.   Nectar feeding insects visit the flowers and fish lurk in the shade of the foliage. Pickerelweed is excellent for absorbing nutrients from water and improving water clarity. This is a common species for bio-purification systems.

    Carex lacustris (Lake bank sedge)...

  • Carex lacustris, Lake bank sedge, is a rapidly spreading rhizomatous plant and a great soil stabilizer for an area with full sun. Lake bank sedge has very upright blue-green foliage and blooms in early to mid summer. Grows 1-2’ tall.  Great for bank stabilization.
