Rockland Scientific designs and produces technologies capable of measuring turbulence and calculating the dissipation of energy that occurs during mixing – for example, in coastal waters heated by tropical storms, or surface waters newly exposed to winds and solar radiant heat due to receding polar ice sheets – and delivering those critical data to stakeholders.  Quantifying the transfer of these energies (ie – heat flux, wind power, storm surge, etc.), and therefore, determining impact to Climate Change, requires the solutions that Rockland provides – sensor technologies responsive enough to measure millimeter-scale changes in water velocities, and yet, robust enough to carry out prolonged missions in challenging ocean environments.
