Vanessa Mathews is the President and Chief Resilience Officer of Asfalis Advisors. She has a proven track record in equipping leaders with a strategic response to risks, with international business experience in London, Mexico, China, and Brazil.
Vanessa's expertise is working with organizations who make, move, buy or sell products and to help them protect their value. Leveraging elements of design thinking, she has helped a number of organizations identify risks that are hidden in plain sight and ultimately reduce risk expenses and increase profitability.
Her experience includes performing gap analyses, implementing the infrastructure for global crisis management programs, and achieving sustainable buy-in for programs that are still in existence today.
Additionally, Vanessa’s diverse background led to helping with plane crashes, fires, explosions, hurricane evacuations, socio-economic communities in disaster, and more.
Vanessa earned a Bachelor of Arts in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from Savannah State University, the first woman in Georgia to do so, and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. She is a Certified Business Continuity Planner, and is an ISO 22301 Lead Implementer. She also hosts the Business Resilience DECODED podcast, a digital media partnership with Asfalis Advisors and Disaster Recovery Journal.
