Benjamin Franklin once said that nothing in this world is certain, except death and taxes. For Mensans, however, nothing is certain, except arguing and procrastination. This presentation intends to address the latter. For high-IQ individuals, many of us are constantly in a state of "wingin' it," making things up as we go (most of the time at the last second), all while aiming to keep a straight face, despite our nervousness and lack of preparation. This is where the art of impromptu speaking comes into play, helping us all "fake it until we make it." An impromptu speech is a presentation delivered on the spot with little to no preparation, but requires speakers to organize thoughts rapidly – sometimes in seconds – to address a topic or question, and is commonly used in business meetings, social situations, and speech competitions. This interactive presentation will guide attendees on the tactics needed to hone this craft and encourage them to practice their own "off the cuff" delivery.
