The world is full of true stories of spies and the people who caught them. Professionals can rarely tell the entire story because they are constrained to keep much of the detail confidential. Dukelow does not intend to violate any classification, but he will give you an opportunity to view the world of espionage and counterintelligence from his unique perspective, having worked in this occupation for over 33 years. We will take a brief look at famous spies of recent years. Then we will examine the mistakes they made, which led to their being caught. Finally, we will speculate a bit on where the next spy to be captured might pop up. A man on a train in Germany once asked Dukelow, “What exactly do you do for the Army?” Dukelow’s response, “If you know, you don’t ask. If you don’t know, you don’t get told.”
