• Along for the Ride: SW-MOTECH PRO Tank Bags and Ring System - Available in USA (Dec 28, 2020)

  After record sales in Europe, SW-MOTECH’s third and latest generation PRO ring is finally available in the U.S.A. The new QUICK-LOCK "floating tank bag" system combines the strength of a locking mechanical attachment with patented magnet technology that makes the ring even easier to use. Along with the tank ring system, the PRO series includes a whole new lineup of bags with major functional and aesthetic improvements.

  The PRO Ring System

  The PRO tank ring system works with small but powerful magnets that guide the bag into place for the mechanical spring mechanism to snap shut with a satisfying and reassuring click. The tank bag is now securely attached to the motorcycle with one fluid movement. The PRO ring offers the same strength and stability as previous rings suitable for high speeds on the highway or rough off-road use because it uses the same mechanical locking system to stay in place.

  The PRO tank ring combines these two ingenious technologies into a fully developed system that continues to meet the requirements every SW-MOTECH tank ring should have:

  • It mounts discreetly to the motorcycle without protruding.

  • Has a flexible mounting position to provide clearance for bars and controls.

  • Provides a safe and secure grip.

  • Maintains a simple refueling process for the rider.

  The PRO tank ring combines the innovative power of two German companies: The locking mechanism of the SW-MOTECH tank rings, which has been tried and tested for many years, can now be operated even more easily thanks to the magnetic guidance assistance from Fidlock technology.

  The PRO Bags

  The PRO tank bags have been continuously developed based on feedback and suggestions from customers. Many have requested larger outer pockets, and so the new tank bag line offers larger and wider opening outer pockets for even more flexible packing.

  Significant improvements to how the upper ring is positioned have also been made. The upper ring is pre-assembled on the tank bag along a guide rail, eliminating the need for any drilling or measuring. This also allows a rider to adjust the position of the bag on the bike as needed, such as when switching to another motorcycle.

  The PRO Generation of Bags - Simply Better

  The new generation of tank bags offer elegant and timeless design in conjunction with durable materials and sophisticated product features: Ballistic nylon material protects the luggage against shock, wind and weather. On the top, a laminated EVA material has been added. This retains the bags' distinctive shape and, in conjunction with a MOLLE attachment, ensures a secure fit for the new smartphone and tablet T-LOCK mounts.

  The new, factory-fitted upper ring guide rail allows for an easier adjustment of the tank bag to the shape of the tank and the ergonomic needs of the rider.   The wait is over. The all-new, no-frills Yamaha T7 middleweight adventure bike is finally arriving in the states. New owners just starting the process of gearing up their factory-fresh bikes for adventure can look to SW-MOTECH for a wide range of upgrades. Luggage, crash protection, navigation and comfort solutions are already developed and ready to ship to riders and dealerships from SW-MOTECH’s new U.S.A. distribution center based in Portland, OR.

  Tank Bags

  SW-MOTECH’s innovative QUICK-LOCK tank bag system has been adapted for the T7’s removable fuel cap for both the ION and EVO ring systems. These bags keep small items such as wallet, keys, smartphones and water bottles readily accessible during the day, but easy to grab-and-go at pit stops.

  QUICK-LOCK Hard and Soft Luggage Solutions

  Sturdy 2.5 mm thick steel PRO side racks easily and completely detach from the bike at camp or for when the adventure is just to the coffee shop. The QUICK-LOCK system also provides a secure hold for the TRAX ADV aluminum panniers which can also be popped on and off from the PRO side racks with ease.

  For the rear, new Ténéré 700’s can be fitted with SW-MOTECH’s sturdy ADVENTURE-RACK to accommodate an URBAN ABS or TRAX ADV aluminum top case. The ADVENTURE-RACK also has enough real estate to mount large dry-bags such as the Drybag 350 or the Drybag 600. Setup with TRAX ADV side cases and a Drybag 600 on the rear, this creates a total of 150 litres (or over 9,000ci) of dust and weatherproof luggage capacity.

  Crash Protection

  Ténéré means “the land out there” in the Tuareg language and refers to a large desert area of the southern Sahara. Getting “out there” is exactly what the Ténéré 700 was built for — and SW-MOTECH has the protection to make sure it finishes the journey.

  The powerful Yamaha Crossplane two-cylinder engine has the oil filter and header pipes hanging down in the front, exposing them to flying rocks, debris and obstacle crossings when off-roading. SW-MOTECH’s sturdy 4 mm thick brushed aluminum skid plate protects these components and the bottom of the case.

  For get-offs and tip-overs, SW-MOTECH crash bars protect the side panels and the components underneath, such as the radiator. The robust, powder-coated bars are 22 mm and 27 mm in diameter.

  SW-MOTECH also offers a 2.5 mm thick aluminum rear brake master cylinder guard specifically developed for the Ténéré 700. KOBRA handguards protect levers and hands from weather and brush. And to protect the rally-inspired quadruple LED headlights on the T7’s front from “friendly” roost or passing trucks, there is a headlight guard available.

  Safety and Comfort

  The SW-MOTECH high-quality steel tubing centerstand allows much more convenient and secure position for field repairs and regular maintenance work. Thanks to an innovative SW-MOTECH design, installation is a snap. There is no spring tension required during the installation process. Instead, the springs are tensioned with a screw after bolting everything up. Light up the terrain ahead and be more conspicuous to drivers with auxiliary fog lights that mount elegantly just beneath the stock headlights. The Ténéré 700 comes with a mounting bar above the dash which is designed specifically for mounting any number of low-profile GPS devices. SW-MOTECH mounting kits will pair the two up perfectly. To keep things shifting smoothly no matter what boots you’re wearing, the answer is the CNC-machined, stepless, fully adjustable shift lever made of HART-COAT®-coated aluminium.

• SW-MOTECH’s New U.S.A. Division Holds Grand Opening Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony (Dec 28, 2020)
  The City of Portland welcomed the official launch of SW-MOTECH USA’s new headquarters in NW Portland today with a small ribbon-cutting ceremony. Doing the cutting honors was SW-MOTECH USA’s Vice President, Sarah Schilke, who is leading the U.S. efforts. SW-MOTECH USA’s CEO Jürgen Swora kicked things off, offering up congratulations and encouragement from Germany via video. A representative from Mayor Ted Wheeler’s office provided a supportive address to the small gathering.

  In addition to the four full-time staff positions at SW-MOTECH, a warehousing and fulfillment contract was awarded to Source Logistics. All online ordering operations are filled directly out of Portland facilities and Source Logistics’ Business Development Director, Sandy Ladieri also spoke a few words. Additional esteemed guests included representatives from urban development organization, Prosper Portland, Honorary Consul of Germany to Oregon, and the NW Business Association.

  SW-MOTECH is proud to base U.S. operations out of Portland, OR in large part due to the enthusiastic motorcycle culture in the city. This was on full display at the event with the master of ceremonies role performed by Shahin Alvandi, GM of Moto Corsa, a local Ducati dealership and very nearly SW-MOTECH’s next door neighbor. Local industry, customers, and guests, many who rode motorcycles to the event, were treated to Portland’s own See See Motor Co.’s baristas serving espresso drinks from their Ural sidecar coffee rig.

• SW-MOTECH launches Division in USA (Dec 28, 2020)

  As announced earlier this year, SW-MOTECH USA LP will start its business activities as the official representation of SW-MOTECH GmbH & Co. KG. in the United States. Based in Portland, Oregon, SW-MOTECH USA will begin serving customers and dealers starting June 1, 2020.

  Motorcycle industry veteran, Sarah Schilke, has been brought on to head up the U.S. operation. Extensive experience in marketing, sales, and German engineered products makes her a natural fit for the SW-MOTECH family. Joining the initial team are Former Ducati and Alta Motors service manager, Quentin Wilson, to provide customer and dealer technical support, along with Christian Hansen, former NW Sales Manager at Alta Motors and Speedymoto who will be responsible for dealer sales.

  Working directly in the U.S., SW-MOTECH will be able to more effectively promote its extensive range of luggage solutions, protection, and ergonomic parts for motorcycles to a wider range of customers, assuring service, great availability, and fast shipping. This increased focus is aimed at driving brand recognition and end-user support particularly in the Western states.
