Nelson Mullins’ higher education team, led by Dan Cohen, focuses on serving the legal needs of college athletics departments across a broad spectrum of legal matters. We advise college athletics departments from Division I to Division III on Title IX and NCAA compliance strategies, legal aspects of athletics strategic planning initiatives, internal investigations, and litigation. We regularly conduct Title IX athletics audits and compliance reviews to improve compliance. We also lead external due diligence projects and work with universities and their athletics departments on construction and facilities issues, intellectual property and licensing issues, revenue generation strategies, litigation avoidance strategies, and NCAA compliance. And when universities face Title IX complaints, NCAA inquiries, or other legal actions, we defend them in litigation and help them navigate through government investigations and NCAA investigations.
