Kureha Energy Solutions is an oilfield service company specialized in degradable technology. Kureha has a degradable frac plug product line that differentiates itself from your typical supplier. With KES stemming from a chemical company, it has a vast knowledge of degradables, particularly Polyglycolic Acid or PGA, which is a polymer based degradable. Our degradable frac plugs primarily consist of this material (PGA), which makes us the primary source for non-chloride dependent degradables, meaning our plugs degrade solely with temperature.

 Products

  • Kureha Degradable Plug (KDP)
Polyglycolic Acid (PGA) based degradable frac plug. It degrades solely with temperature, not dependent to chloride....

    • Standard, low, ultra-low, extra-low temperature grades are available.
    • Suitable for BHTs of 125-325F
    • Suitable for up to 10,000 psi frac pressure
    • Mainly comprised of polymers which degrade without any trigger (such as acid and salt)
    • Degrades predictably at wide temperature range
    • Predictable and trustable degradability compared with metal plugs
    • 500ft/min and 18 bbl/min run-in speeds
    • Bottom set shear off eliminates tensile loading
    • Large ID area to accommodate immediate flow back
    • Utilizes industry's standard setting tools
    • Drop ball & ball-in-place options
  • Kureha Degradable Plug (KDP) - IF / IS Grades
IF and IS Grade are metal based plug developed to achieve a higher performance in lower bottom hole temperature, optimized in terms of both material composition and design....

    • Fresh water grade (KDP-IF) and high salinity grade (KDP-IS) are available. KDP-IS is currently under development.
    • Optimized for bottom hole temperature range of 110-180F.
    • Suitable for 10,000 psi frac pressure.
    • Design based on traditional KDP grade which has established run history and reputation for reliable run performance.
    • Bottom set shear and integrated slip segments designed to prevent pre-set.
    • Patented high performance degradable sealing element to eliminate the risk of productivity decrease due to casing erosion.
    • Utilizes industry's standard setting tools.
    • Drop ball & ball-in-place options.
  • Kuredux PGA Ball
This product is designed to eliminate the mill-out process of ball sealers after use. The degradation rate has been designed to degrade within hours or days by the recovery of bottom hole temperature after use....

    • Standard (MT), low (LT), and extra-low (XT) temperature grades are available.
    • Suitable for BHTs of 125F to 325F.
    • Suitable for 10K psi / 15K psi pressure.
    • Comprised of Kuredux PGA polymer which degrades without any trigger, such as acid or salt.
    • Degrades predictably at wide temperature range.
    • More trustable and predictable degradability compared with metal balls.
    • Available diameter from 0.5 inch to 4.5 inch.
    • Specific gravity is approximately 1.6.
    • Environmental friendly fully compostable material, satisfying the test protocols of ASTM D6400 and ISO 14855.
  • Kureha Degradable Rubber (KDR)
This product has been widely used as the degradable sealing element and temporary protector for downhole tools....

    • High (H), standard (M), low (L), and ultra-low (U) temperature grades are available.
    • Higher mechanical strength than conventional nitrile rubbers.
    • Stably degrades in fluids without trigger (such as acid or salt).
    • Various shapes and hardness are available for your application.
    • Similar deformation behavior with conventional nitrile rubber.
    • Greater elongation at fracture than nitrile rubber.
  • Retrievable Ball Sensor (under development)
This product enables to gather various downhole information such as temperature and pressure during drilling, completion, and production. A game-changing technology that may eliminate an expensive fiber optic installation or wireline-type sensors....

  • Features

    • Ball sensor consist non-degradable sensor body and dissolvable shell.
    • Ball sensor can be efficiently pumped down hole with the high-density dissolvable shell and can be easily retrieved by flow-back after the high-density shell has dissolved.
    • Low apparent specific gravity (<1.0) after shell dissolves.
    • Collect temperature and pressure information for up to 10 days.
    • Data stored in memory and downloaded to PC at surface.
    • No wireline or coiled tubing units are required.
    • Typical pump-down ball size are 2", 2.5" 2.75".
    • Can be used with frac plugs and other completion tools.
