Track(s)

Methodology

This workshop combines instructional presentation, guided software demonstrations, and hands-on field practice. Participants begin with educational slides that introduce key concepts, followed by interactive tutorials that walk through GIS and mobile mapping workflows. The session then moves outdoors, where attendees use provided GPS equipment and mobile GIS apps to collect real-world data. Instructors offer live coaching throughout, ensuring participants gain practical skills they can immediately apply.

Learning Objectives

Learn how modern GIS and GPS tools support rural utility workflows; understand key mapping concepts and simple app setup; practice collecting accurate field data with mobile devices; and see how collected data becomes shareable information across your organization.
