Irreversible pixel is a display technology in which its activated (ON) state is permanent without any additional energy, and it cannot be reset to the non‐activated (OFF) state by any means. The pixel can only be triggered once, and it will create a visual memory of the information content indefinitely without power or any electronic support. In addition, the memory is secured against tampering because the color is formed using a fully irreversible electrochemical mechanism. Irreversible pixel can be made with flexible substrates (flexible electronics) or with glass electrodes. For the glass electrodes, the technology is compatible with medical autoclave sterilization protocols (high temperature and pressure).
