Excyton has developed a novel display technology called TurboLED, which comprises a novel pixel architecture and drive algorithms to reduce display power by 50% while extending color gamut. TurboLED displays have lighter and deeper RGB sub‐pixels. Lighter RGB sub‐pixels are more efficient and stable than deeper RGB sub‐pixels. Lighter RGB sub‐pixels are used to render most images, while deeper RGB sub‐pixels are only used when needed. This reduces power compared to standard displays, and color gamut can be extended to Rec 2020 due to minimal use of the deeper RGB sub‐pixels.
