Lemur Imaging was founded by two chip industry veterans with a successful track record of developing and licensing semiconductor imaging IP to major customers around the world.
Lemur Imaging have developed an ultra compact perceptually lossless image compression technology that saves significant on-chip real estate whilst also saving system power. 50% perceptually lossless compression can be implemented inless than 20k gates - making it one of the smallest compression engines in the world.
It is ideally suited for reducing the size of on chip frame buffers or reducing DRAM bandwidth. Target display applications include geometric distortion correction for AR/VR applications.
The core can also be used in ML computer vision systems, where it can be used to reduce the power consumption of activations by over 50%, by allowing 4 bit data to be stored without compromising on detection quality. The compression is complementary to emerging MX quantisation, and allows 4 bit data to outperform MX6 data.
