  • Transcend Air's Vy 400R VTOL Gets a Powerful Makeover – Robb ReportBloomfield, CT, (October 11, 2021) - Kaman Corporation (NYSE: KAMN) through its subsidiary, Kaman Aerospace Group, Inc., has been selected by Transcend Air Corporation to build the Vy 400 High Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL) aircraft. Kaman will have the Vy400 model on display at this year’s National Business Aviation Association Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (“NBAA-BACE”) in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 12th through the 14th.

The Vy 400 design is optimized to reduce the current time and cost barriers for regional city-to-city travel. The vertical takeoff and landing capabilities of the Vy 400 aircraft will give Transcend Air access to demand-rich centers of major cities.  The high-speed Vy 400 is expected to travel more than 400 miles per hour, making the journey from Manhattan to Boston in 36 minutes.

Gregory Bruell, Co-Founder and CEO of Transcend Air said, “Because of the Vy’s high speed, we can complete many more passenger trips per aircraft.  The combination of that with VTOL is key to our revolutionary economics, and Kaman will be key to us scaling up production to meet the significant demand that our mass market fares are expected to drive.”

“We are looking forward to displaying the Vy400 at NBAA-BACE at the Kaman Aerospace Group booth this year,” says Bruce Dailey, Executive Director of Business Development and Compliance.  “This is the perfect forum, now that we can have in-person events, to introduce our collaboration with Transcend Air, as well as promote the extensive capabilities we offer at Kaman Aerospace.”

NBAA-BACE attendees are invited to visit Kaman Aerospace Group at booth #3017.  Kaman Aerospace Jacksonville and Kaman Composite Structures will represent Kaman at this year’s exhibition.
