Brand Founder’s Story
I am a product junkie who was born and raised in San Francisco's eclectic Haight & Ashbury neighborhood, lived in Brooklyn and Harlem for 20 years, and am a long-time Oakland resident. I have always been a fan of all things Purple, the favorite color of the musical and cultural phenomenon Prince, The Purple One the human embodiment of the male peacock, The Beautiful One. The color Purple vibrates at a high energy that helps evoke one's Highest Self. For color therapy and as an affirmation, I even color my hair royal Purple with Violet and Lavender highlights!
After attending Stanford University and obtaining a marketing MBA at NYU Stern Business School, I spent over 15 years in beauty and personal care in NYC in marketing/sales and product education/development. I worked for Maybelline, Shea Moisture, the L’Oréal and Clairol professional divisions, and taught cosmetology at the Aveda Institute SOHO. As a regional sales manager for Atlanta- based McBride Research Labs, I helped launch Design Essentials Natural for curly/tightly coiled hair into Walgreens, Sally Beauty and Target.
Over the past 7 years I have worked in my SF Bay Area, in the dynamic cannabis industry and, more recently, the federally legal Hemp CBD products market. PURPLE RAINA Self Care is a culmination of my personal and professional experience and passion for mindful self-care, plant-powered products, and daily grooming rituals. I was inspired to create topical products to use on my sore neck and back muscles and to nourish my dry sensitive body skin. I also wanted to offer aromatic multi-purpose products that help foster Mind & Body balance.
