Fast GC-MS Analysis: How to Achieve Fast Separation to Increase Sample Throughput and Productivity

  • SC Office A302
  • Course Number:SC14481
Monday,March 07, 2022:1:00 PM -5:00 PM

Speaker(s)

Instructor
Yelena Sapozhnikova
Research Chemist
U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service

Description

This course will provide theoretical fundamentals of low pressure (LP) vacuum outlet gas chromatography (GC) as well as practical hands-on experience on LPGC assembly that can be implemented in any laboratory for fast separation of semi-volatile organic compounds. The main advantage of LPGC is speed, which provides 4 times faster separation compared to conventional GC, thus leading to high sample throughput and productivity. Additional benefits include greater sensitivity, reduced degradation of thermally liable compounds, greater ruggedness and reduced peak tailing. In short, LPGC can increase productivity, reduce GC separation time, improve instrument ruggedness and reduce time for maintenance.
