MilliporeSigma Expands its Ultrapure Water Portfolio with the Milli-Q® EQ 7000 Water Purification System

MilliporeSigma has expanded its benchtop ultrapure water system portfolio, launching its new Milli-Q® EQ 7000 Type 1 water purification system. With this launch, MilliporeSigma is driving a better customer experience and demonstrating once again that it is at the forefront of innovation in lab water purification.

The new Milli-Q® EQ 7000 system produces consistent ultrapure water quality that can be easily customized to experimental requirements. Dedicated innovations make the system convenient and effortless to use, while providing confidence that every dispense is of high quality. MilliporeSigma’s Milli-Q® Lab Water products provide reliable, high-quality sources of purified water for all scientists’ needs.

Specific features of MilliporeSigma’s new Milli-Q® EQ 7000 system include:

    • Flexible set-up options: The touchscreen display and dispenser may be installed in a compact benchtop configuration or wall-mounted up to 3 meters from system, saving valuable bench space.
    • New ‘Check & Dispense’ lights: Located on the Q-POD® dispenser arm, these system check lights rapidly confirm that every dispense is of high quality.
    • Redesigned total organic carbon (TOC) indicator: An inline, proprietary indicator measures TOC at the point of use, providing assurance that organic contamination is below 5 parts per billion.

This new system strengthens MilliporeSigma’s Milli-Q® ultrapure water offering that includes the advanced Milli-Q® IQ 7000 ultrapure water system. This intelligent system offers a full qualification program, advanced data traceability and accurate TOC monitoring.

As with all the latest generation Milli-Q® systems, both Milli-Q® IQ and EQ 7000 systems are equipped with similar modern design elements:

    • Powerful purification media: IPAK Meta® and IPAK Quanta® polishing cartridges ensure consistently high-quality ultrapure water.
    • Intuitive touchscreen control: High-definition digital displays simplify system operation.
    • Agile Q-POD® dispensing: Convenient handling with a range of easily accessible dispensing options.
    • Reduced environmental impact: 25 percent smaller system footprint and 33% smaller purification cartridges versus MilliporeSigma’s previous generation Milli-Q® systems. Hibernation mode minimizes water and energy consumption when the lab is closed for extended periods.
    • Space-saving design: Compact systems that are free of tubing and cables for a clutter-free workspace. Easy integration in the lab environment.

MilliporeSigma’s Milli-Q® EQ 7000 system is currently available for purchase. This system will replace the existing Milli-Q® Reference and Milli-Q® Reference A+ systems.

  • New Product Announcement

MilliporeSigma Launches Scepter™ 3.0 Instrument for Wireless Cell Counting Precision

    • Portable device measures cells and delivers accurate and reliable cell counts in less than 30 seconds
    • Only automated, portable cell counter on the market to accurately count particles as small as 4 μm in diameter
    • Wireless and reliable data exports for in-depth analysis and archiving

MilliporeSigma today announced the launch of its new Scepter™ 3.0 handheld automated cell counter, a solution that enables convenient, on-demand cell volume, cell diameter and cell concentration data. The device uses precision microfluidics to measure and count cells via electrical impedance within 30 seconds.

The Scepter™ 3.0 offers researchers true automation without the risk of error that accompanies vision-based systems, using a combination of analog and digital hardware for sensing, signal processing, data storage, and graphical display. The precision-made, polymer sensor has a laser-drilled aperture in its cell-sensing zone that enables the Scepter™ 3.0 instrument to use the Coulter principle to discriminate cell diameter and volume at submicron and sub-picoliter resolution, respectively.

Using a sensor with a 40 μm aperture, the Scepter™ cell counter can accurately and precisely count a broad range of cell types, including small cells (> 4 μm in diameter) and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC)1.

Users can easily export data via USB or wirelessly to a lab workstation for reliable, consistent recording and archiving, streamlining the data analysis process and eliminating human error during data transfer.

Additional features have made the new 3.0 version even more convenient and easy-to-use:

    • High-throughput capability to count thousands of cells per measurement with maximum precision.
    • Uniquely ergonomic design with mobile charging station, convenient for fatigue-free measurements and storage at the tissue culture hood.
    • Requires no sample prep, dedicated reagents, or hazardous dyes.
    • Can be used to monitor cell health between measurements, passages and batches using size and morphology.
    • Requires no cleaning protocol to maintain operation.
    • Two available sensor sizes enable precise counts of a range of cell sizes, with reliable insertion and no-touch ejection.

  • Supel™ BioSPME 96-Pin Devices
Our New Supel™ BioSPME 96-Pin Devices deliver a simple and rapid sample preparation solution for plasma protein binding analyses that is 3x faster while maintaining the data quality standards required by bioanalytical labs....

  • Supel™ BioSPME 96-Pin Devices were developed to greatly improve upon the speed and simplicity compared with current sample preparation techniques employed for plasma protein binding studies and other free analyte analyses.  Our technology offers a 3x faster workflow compared to rapid equilibrium dialysis based methods, is amenable to both automation and manual operation, and is a convenient universal 96-pin format compatible with standard 96-well consumables.  Supel™ BioSPME data shows accuracy and precision comparable to equilibrium dialysis and rapid equilibrium dialysis data, as well as proven reproducibility across batches as well as across each 96-sample device.
  • Stericup® E and Steritop® E Filtration Systems
Introducing the Stericup® E and Steritop® E sterile filtration devices—evolved with an eco-conscience. This progressive rethinking of filter design helps to reduce your lab’s environmental impact....

  • Stericup® sterile filtration devices are trusted in tissue culture labs to provide consistent, reliable sterilization of media and buffers. But like yours, our priorities as scientists extend far beyond sterile filtration. So, our engineers found a way to provide the steadfast performance you’ve come to expect from Millipore® membrane filtration devices, with a significant reduction in disposable plastic materials. These ‘E’ (eco-friendly) additions to the Stericup® family eliminate the plastic filler funnel entirely by threading directly onto the media bottle.

  • Supel™ Carbon LC Columns
Based off of porous graphitic carbon technology, the Supel Carbon LC column is a new addition to the Supelco HPLC column line that enables chromatographic separation of polar compounds at any temperature or pH....

  • Porous graphitic carbon (PGC) particles, designed by a unique and patented synthetic process, constitute the packing of Supel™ Carbon LC U/HPLC columns. The key advantages of using PGC columns over silica particle-packed columns include elevated temperature stability (up to 250 °C), pH stability (1 – 14), orthogonal retention mechanisms to reversed phase and HILIC, compatibility with any solvent, and resistant to elevated backpressures (up to 700 bar). The patented synthetic process used for the synthesis of Supel™ Carbon LC columns generates a narrow particle size distribution (PSD). The resulting narrow PSD leads to a higher efficiency due to the reduction in brand broadening caused by eddy diffusion effects.
