Welcome to APD from the Penn State Ag Safety & Health Team!

Profile

The Penn State Agricultural Safety and Health program highlights a safety topic important to everyday lives. Join us to learn about the hazards of riding lawnmowers, which are used on farms and by homeowners. The team will introduce lawnmower dangers and best practices given current technology and demonstrate the research-extension modifications, including a vision-based shut-off system and a toolkit for lawnmower owners. There will be 2 lawnmower safety demonstrations on Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, RescueTechs LLC and Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company will do 2 demos of a staged ag rescue emergency to show how first responders approach the scene to properly manage a farm-related incident. The Penn State Pullers, a student engineering design team based out of PSU's Ag & Biological Engineering program, highlight their tractor that they designed and built for the ASABE International ¼ Scale Tractor Student Design Competition. They will do a daily demonstrations.

Brands: The primary goal of the Penn State Ag Safety & Health is to reduce ag-related injuries, illnesses, & fatalities while promoting safety & health practice for those involved in agriculture.
