Kentucky College of Optometry
Welcome to the UPIKE - Kentucky College of Optometry!
The Kentucky College of Optometry is the fourth college under the University of Pikeville banner and reflects the institution’s mission of service and strategic initiatives. Kentucky's expanded optometry laws give students at KYCO the opportunity to learn select laser and minor surgical procedures by performing them on live human patients while in the four years of their Optometry Education. The University of Pikeville is the 22nd school in the school of optometry in the country. The Kentucky College of Optometry is housed in the Health Professions Education Building, a new $60+ million educational facility on UPIKE’s campus home to an on-campus clinic, virtual reality anatomy and ophthalmoscopy labs, state-of-the-art methods labs and the most advanced clinical optometry technology available. Sixty students are admitted per class for a total of 240. The university provides for the underserved in Central Appalachia and other rural areas of the country.
