Falck Medical, Inc is a new generation diagnostic instrumentation development company. The company, using state of the art arttificial intelligence engineering design, worked with the US Food and Drug Administration to develop the FMAT1 Multifunctional Device. The FMAT1 is a compact slit lamp mounted device that performs three separate diagnostic tests; Serial Tonometry, Tonography and Ophthalmodynamometry. The Serial Tonometry function overcomes the limitations and inaccuracies of other existing tonometers that do not measure the variation of IOP with time and with the cardiac cycle. The FMAT1 measures the variation of IOP over time and with cardiac cycle to provide a true reading. The Tonography function measures the flow of aqueous humor out of the eye. Impaired outflow of aqueous humor is the primary cause of glaucoma. The Ophthalmodynamometry function measures Central Retinal Artery Pressure. Reduced Central Retinal Artery Pressure is a risk factor for glaucoma progression. It is also a sign of retinal vascular and carotid vascular disease.
The FMAT1 has a fixed use disposable optical prism to protect patients against transmission of infectious disease. The technology is covered by multiple national and international patents. It is the first and only device cleared by the USFDA for these multiple indications of use.
