Our Mission:  The National Academy of Opticianry, (NAO)  is an international organization dedicated solely to providing quality, affordable education and training for ALL opticians.  

Founded in 1963, we cover all aspects of Opticianry education and training from:

• apprenticeship training and career preparation (internationally known as the Ophthalmic Career Progression Program) that is accepted by the D.O.L. and twelve licensing states as one way to meet education requirements during apprenticeship training,
• basic to advanced certification and licensing exam preparation, and
• continuing education for beginning through advanced level Opticians.
