The T-DRILL was introduced to the industry in the late 70’s and today it has been recognized as an industry standard by the Pressure Piping Code, ASME B31.9 plus codes like the IPC, UPC, ASTM and others. Please see the complete list attached on the Submittal Data Specification file. Contrary to a common misconception, T-DRILL joints withstand more pressure than the copper itself. This is accomplished by the following:
-T-DRILL process does not stretch the copper it actually folds it and has a +5.5% thicker root radius than the actual wall thickness.
-After inserting a tube inside the outlet, it doubles the wall thickness.
-Joints are brazed not soldered. Braze is 14X stronger vs. solder.
-T-DRILL cup height is 151-193% higher than needed for a brazed joint.
