 Press Releases

  • CUES, a leading manufacturer of closed-circuit television pipeline inspection equipment, has introduced an innovative new wireless manhole scanning technology--the SPiDER 3D manhole scanner.

The SPiDER scanner is the only truly wireless, color, manhole inspection technology in such a lightweight and compact form, said Pierre Mikhail, director of CUES Manhole Inspection Division.

“The Spider scanner provides a new outlook on how manhole data is collected and applied,” said Mikhail.  “While other cameras and inspection devices use a payout reel to determine how deep the camera is in a manhole, the 13 kg, tether-less, self-contained SPiDER typically is deployed using a telescopic mast or tripod for stability.

“It is operated with a tablet computer which controls the scanners and lights. This technology frees manhole scanning from problems associated with inaccurate, poorly calibrated cable counters and poorly managed cables. SPiDER does not require a truck or data/ power cable for operational use. Scanning data is recorded on the unit.”

SPiDER collects millions of three-dimensional (3D) points during each manhole scan that provides engineering and survey quality information about manhole geometry and condition. Information gathered can be used for structural assessment, pre- and post- rehabilitation analysis, hydrological surveys, and for general condition assessment.
  • CUES has developed a new pipeline inspection tool designed to significantly reduce unplanned downtime. The CUES REDI (Remote Evaluation Diagnostic Inspection) Kit is the first pipeline inspection troubleshooting kit available on the market today designed to help diagnose electrical issues, allowing for quicker and more accurate troubleshooting and repairs of problems while in the field. The release of this new product reflects CUES continuing commitment to offer the best customer support services in the business.

The CUES REDI Kit features a hi-resolution web camera for two-way video conferencing with CUES to expedite troubleshooting and enhance parts identification, a Diagnostic Test Box for easy access to the TV cable conductors via test points, a built in mini-camera, used to send video back thru the TV cable and truck, and much more. Use the REDI kit, along with the CUES technical staff, to take CCTV pipeline inspection troubleshooting and support to the next level. Contact CUES for additional information and a demonstration.

  • CUES has developed a new lightweight, portable, HD wireless video inspection pole camera that can be operated by one person using any tablet. The new QZIII is designed to provide safe-viewing in industrial or environmental areas with no man entry. Perform swift inspections and surveys of pipelines, wet wells, manholes, sewer treatment plants, steam generators, tanks, vessels, and other areas that are difficult to reach. QZIII can also be used to locate lateral services or to identify blockages at a manholes, access ports, or other entry points without entering the line or structure.

QZIII is mounted on a lightweight carbon fiber adjustable telescopic pole that can extend up to 24’ (an optional 30’ pole is available). The 1080p camera features a 360:1 zoom with built-in image stabilization, automatic focus, distance-to-defect measurement, and self-contained waterproof lighting for enhanced detailed viewing of cracks, breaks, pipe separations, scale, and various defect conditions. The new QZIII also includes (2) flood LED lights for manhole inspections and (6) LED lights to provide maximum pipe lighting capabilities under adverse conditions. Contact CUES for additional information and a demonstration.

CUES' latest GROUT/REHABILITATION product line, CUES LOCK, includes structural point repair systems designed to be used for stand-alone spot repairs or to enhance quality and simplicity of cured-in-place relining. CUES LOCK products are easy to install, require very little equipment, and most repairs can be carried out in live sewer operating conditions. Proven CUES LOCK technologies do not require digging or external point repair. CUES LOCK product line includes:

    • CUES LOCK stents for a quick and easy way to bridge holes, voids, cracks and weakened/broken sections in pipes to help and allow easy installation of any type of cured-in-place pipes through the stents.
    • CUES-Lock Structural & Sealer Sleeves to restore damaged areas to full structural strength and seals infiltration.
    • CUES-Lock End Sealers are used to seal the annular space between the cured-in-place liner and the host pipe at the pipe ends. End Sealers prevent the ends of the cured-in-place liner from delaminating or sagging from the host pipe.
