Profile

Dr. Barbe received her BA in Biology from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and her PhD in Anatomy, from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, Anatomy and Neurobiology, The Medical College of Pennsylvania. After completing postdoctoral training at Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, she joined Temple University in 1990 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, College of Health Professions. Dr. Barbe has been awarded a number of Excellence in Teaching Awards, including a Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2008 from Temple University, and a Women in Medicine Mentoring Award 2019 from Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple Univ. She has also received many research awards including a Senior Faculty Research Excellence Award from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine in 2017, the Temple University Faculty Research Award for 2018-2019, and the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine Prize for Lumbar Spine Research in 2018.
