Description

Episodes of care programs use a value-focused approach to treat an illness, condition or medical event by bundling all services associated with treatment into a single episode and payment. As the workers’ compensation industry puts a much-needed emphasis on patient-centered treatment, episodes of care will help to drive a better injured worker experience while improving functional recovery and total cost.

Many barriers to recovery in common, and often costly, workplace injuries are rooted in a fee-for-service model that can drive injured worker confusion, create gaps in care, and lead to unnecessary costs. In this session, we will show how an episodes of care approach removes communication gaps and increases access to quality providers, resulting in improved return-to-work rates and financial predictability. We will also use a shoulder injury case study to demonstrate condition-specific benefits of this approach.
