  1. The water content in whole meat is quite high (70%) so when the meat is cooked, all of that water content evaporates, leaving you with a lower percentage of actual product. With the "meal" proteins Fueled by Team Dog utilizes, the water content has already been removed making the protein content far more accurate.
  2. When a single meat as opposed to "meal" is listed as the first ingredient, the second ingredient may be a protein source of a less desirable nature and placed in the formula to bolster the protein content claim of that product. Meal is a more accurate way to measure the levels of protein in the formula and when sourced from a credible supplier.
  3. Animals in the wild do not just pick the meat off the bones of an animal. They consume parts of the carcass which provides essential nutrients and collagen which is found in the "meal proteins" in Fueled by Team Dog.

  100kg of chicken meat = 30kg of chicken including chicken fat

  100kg of chicken meal = 90kg of dry chicken including chicken fat

  (ie. 300kg of chicken meat = 100kg of chicken meal)

  In summary, there is 3x the amount of actual chicken per kg in meal as compared to meat.
