Sun Smart Saskatchewan - Saskatchewan Cancer Agency
Learn about sun safety at work!
Sun Smart Saskatchewan is a coalition of partners committed to skin cancer prevention in the province, with sponsorship from the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.
Did you know?
- Sun exposure is a workplace hazard that can cause skin cancer, heat stress, and other serious health effects, all of which are preventable.
- Outdoor workers have a 2.5 to 3.5 times greater risk of skin cancer than indoor workers because of their exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) on the job.
- Saskatchewan has the second highest number of workers exposed to solar UVR per capita of all the provinces and territories in Canada.
- Agriculture, construction, mining, and oil and gas extraction industries have a high number of workers exposed to UVR on the job, but all outdoor occupations have a potential for exposure
