Event Regulations

*Guidelines and regulations are reviewed annually and subject to change
**Both Diversified Communications and Fira Barcelona reserve the right to reject, alter or dismantle any installation not conforming to these rules.

Product Promotion/Display for Seafood Companies
  • If 90% of product display/stand design is seafood, up to 10% may be plant-based seafood analog. This permission is exclusive to plant-based seafood analog products and does not extend to other protein sources. The acceptance criteria for seaweed and sea vegetables remains unchanged, they continue to be eligible for exhibition.
  • Contact Michaela Arsenault at marsenault@divcom.com if you wish to include plant-based seafood analog products in your stand.

Adding Co-Exhibitors

Prior to entering each co-exhibitor in the Exhibitor Resource Center, please confirm that they fit within at least one of the product or service categories featured in accordance with the event for which they are registered. The event organizer, Diversified Communications, has the right to remove a co-exhibitor if their products do not match the appropriate event categories.

Age Restrictions
No One Under 18 Permitted

No one under the age of 18 will be permitted within the Exhibit Hall during installation days, expo days, and dismantle days. Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global are business to business events and open to trade professionals only. This rule will be strongly enforced on-site.

Attendees Cannot Exit the Venue with Perishable Seafood Samples

Due to regulations surrounding veterinary inspections and non-consumable product, visitors are prohibited from leaving Fira Barcelona with perishable seafood products. DO NOT give visitors any seafood products from your stand to take home. Any visitors found with seafood products trying to exit the halls will have all items confiscated at the doors by security.

 

Any distribution and consumption of seafood products is under the sole and entire responsibility of the exhibitor with no recourse towards the Organizer or its designated agents. Seafood products originating from outside the European Union should be imported for exhibition purposes only. They are not for human consumption post-exhibition and should be destroyed immediately following the close of the Exhibition.

 

At 12:00 on Friday 26 April, all left over products in the freezers/reefers will be donated to the local food bank or destroyed.

Cleaning of the Stand

The Organizer is responsible for the general cleaning of the aisles and other public areas. Each exhibitor is responsible for the cleaning of their own stand.

 

Contact our official supplier, Servifira with any cleaning services you require.

 

Private cleaning companies will have access to the halls starting at 07:30 in the morning until 19:00 each exposition day. All members of your cleaning crew must be issued contractor badges by the exhibitor and wear them at all times.

Exhibitors who will have music by live performers or any mechanical device i.e., a radio, record, audio tape and/or video and television equipment, playing in their stands must pay the royalties due. Demonstrations

As a matter of safety and courtesy to others, exhibitors are responsible for conducting sales presentations and product demonstrations in a manner which assures all exhibitor personnel and attendees are within the contracted exhibit space and not encroaching on the aisle or neighboring exhibits so as to avoid congestion. Loudspeakers and carnival tactics will not be allowed. Please be a considerate neighbor.

Distribution of Promotional Brochures and/or Magazines

Magazines and brochures promoting the exhibiting company may only be distributed within the perimeter of the exhibit space. No promoting or distribution of any materials is allowed in the aisles or other public areas. Promotion of other events (through literature, graphics, etc.) is strictly prohibited.

Exhibitor Appointed Contractors If you are hiring a third party contractor to build your stand, you must submit the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor (EAC) Form. Once submitted, the EAC will receive access to the Exhibitor Resource Center for all design regulations. The Event Organizer will not send event information to any stand builder not submitted as an official EAC.
Exposition Colors The official colors of Seafood Expo Global will be white hard wall with electric blue aisle carpet. The official colors of Seafood Processing Global will be white hard wall with a navy blue aisle carpet.           

Food Donation

Gastrofira, the official caterer, is proud to collaborate with the local NGO Banc dels Aliments to collect leftover seafood products from exhibitors, to prepare & deliver meals for local charity associations. All frozen food is welcome. Opened packaging and defrosted products cannot be donated.

 

Stickers will be distributed in each stand on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 April. More stickers will be available in the Organizer’s office and at the Seafood cold storage areas. Banc dels Aliments volunteers will be on-site Thursday 25 April at 17:00 to collect any donated products from the exhibitors stands.

 

You can also make arrangements at the cold storage areas to donate your leftover seafood. All remaining seafood products left in the cold storage units past 12:00 Friday 26 April will be donated to the food bank.

Gobo Usage in Stands

The use of Gobos for logos and graphics is allowed however the reflected picture must remain within your stand and not display on aisles, walls, other stands or any space outside of your purchased stand space.

Liability Insurance

Exhibitors are encouraged to carry their own general liability insurance as well as any additional property or theft insurance they deem appropriate, but are no longer required to provide to Event Management evidence of that insurance or name Diversified Communications as an additional insured on the exhibitor’s policy. As has always been the case, exhibitors remain exclusively responsible for theft or damage to their personal property and are advised to secure their valuables at all times.  

Music & Loudspeakers

Exhibitors may use sound equipment in their stands so long as the noise level does not disrupt the activities of neighboring exhibitors. Volume levels of all music and speakers should be kept at background level audio. Speakers and other sound devices must be positioned to direct sound into the stand rather than into the aisle. Live music must be approved by the Organizer beforehand. If complaints are received, the Organizer reserves the right to stop the music.

Photographs and Videos Limited

Due to the sensitive nature of new products and unique displays accessible at the Event, photographs or video of other Exhibitors' stands on the Event exhibit floor or screen shots of others' virtual booths are prohibited. Attending personnel of exhibitors or qualified press must seek advance written approval from Diversified to photograph, film or make audio recordings at the Event and must abide by all conditions imposed.

Receptions in Your Stand

If you plan to host a reception within your stand space, you must submit the Exhibit Floor Reception Request Form.

  • All receptions must take place within open exhibition hours and end by 18:00. All guests must leave the halls at that time. Catering staff and exhibitor staff are permitted to remain for breakdown/cleanup but all must depart by 20:00. Doors will close at the end of the exposition hours and there will be no reentry into the halls after this time – there will be no exceptions.
  • All exhibitors are required to hire 1 security guard for the duration of the reception. (Updated regulation for 2024)
  • All reception attendees must stay within the exhibiting companies stand and not encroach on other stands or into the aisle. The aisles must remain clear at all times.
  • Sound equipment may be used as long as the noise level does not cause a disruption. If complaints are received, the Organizers reserve the right to stop the music and/or reception.
  • At no point are any items permitted to be placed in the aisles; food, catering staff, dishes, glasses, and any related item. At no point are any items permitted to be stored in the aisle or on the floor next to the stand.

Solicitation by Non-Exhibiting Companies

For the protection of all exhibitors, only those companies whose Application for Exhibit Space has been approved by the Event Organizer will be allowed to present and sell their products at the Seafood Expo Global & Seafood Processing Global. If a representative from a non-exhibiting company is seen soliciting business on the exposition floor, please request a business card from that person and give it to an Event Organizer’s representative. We will take the necessary steps to curtail this activity.

Stands Must Be Staffed

All stands must be staffed during all Expo hours. An empty stand or early dismantling may subject your company to a significant fine and loss of first round placement for the following exhibit year. Please make your travel plans accordingly.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAVs) The use of UAVs are not permitted within Fira Barcelona Grand Via venue. 

Waste Disposal

There will not be any public waste bins available. All companies are responsible for their waste collection and removal during installation & dismantling days and must maintain general cleanliness at all times. All seafood waste must be discarded in the special containers located in the Cleaning Stations. View map.

Facility Regulations

Fira Barcelona Technical Regulations

Adhesives

Any adhesive tape used to secure the stand carpet onto the concrete floor must be completely removed by the stand builder upon move-out. Any labor costs incurred by the Event Organizer for the removal of the tape will be charged to the exhibiting company.

Cooking Within Your Stand If you are planning to have a kitchen in your stand space, make sure to review the Fira Barcelona Technical Regulations.  Gas appliances are not permitted. All cooking appliances must be electric. Any vapors, gases, or odors must be passed through a filtered hood. With any questions, contact seafood@firabarcelona.com

Electricity Regulations

Exhibitors can choose between a daytime connection (12 hours) and a permanent connection (24 hours). Permanent connections are recommended for refrigeration/freezer units or anything in your stand that needs 24-hour power.

 

Daytime and the 24-hour switchboards will be turned off on the last expo day one hour after the event has closed. If you need power past this time or for the move-out days, you will need to order it through Servifira.

Fire Regulations

For detailed information regarding fire regulation, consult page 8 of the Fira Barcelona Technical Regulations

 

The fixed fire protection installations located inside the hall shall remain accessible and visible at all times. A portable extinguisher (one with an effectiveness of 21A-113B) is needed in the next scenarios:

 
  • A maximum of 15 m with respect to any evacuation point of origin
  • Next to every kitchen (areas with oven, vitroceramic hobs, induction cookers or similar equipment)
  • In special areas of risk (i.e. storage, or areas with high electrical risk)
  • Any Stand that has a height greater than 5 meters structurally
  • Any stand that has a singular structure higher than 4 meters
  • On the first floor of every double deck
 

Smoke Detectors: Stands less than 100m2 of enclosed space may use independent and autonomous smoke detectors with integrated alarms as long as they are certified by the CE standard and comply with the following:

  • Stands smaller than 100m2, ground floor only
  • The length & width dimensions are less than 1

Stands with more than 100m2 of closed space or double decker stands will require a professional smoke detector system that meets the requirements of UNE23007-14: 2009 including:

  • Alarm buttons
  • Interconnected smoke detectors
  • Control Panel
  • Certified by a local authorized and certified provider
  • At least one smoke detector per closed room
  • The smoke detector system requires a 24-hour power supply to function properly
  • The smoke detector system must be connected to the Fira Control Center through a communication device that must be hired from Servifira

Liquid Gas Bottles: Fira Barcelona reminds exhibitors that bottles of liquid gas (butane, “household,” or “camping” gas) may not be used or kept in stands. Stringent checks will be made by the Hall Managers. For further details, consult the Fira Barcelona Technical Regulations.

 

Cooking Appliances: Gas appliances (stoves, ranges, etc.) are not permitted. All cooking appliances must be electric.

Helium Balloons

The Exposition Organizer does not allow helium balloons in stands, nor may they be distributed.

Maximum Weight Allowance

The floor of the Exhibition Hall i.e., stand spaces and alleys, is completely covered with concrete. The maximum load per hall is indicated below and some areas might have a lower specified load limit.

  • Hall 1: 3 tons/m2
  • Halls 2, 3, & 4: 5 tons/m2
  • Hall 5: 3 tons/m2
  • Galleria: 1 ton/m2
Sawdust Collection For safety, health and environmental reasons, the tools that produce dust, such as all types of saws, must not be used inside the Fira de Barcelona halls, unless they are equipped with dust holding bags or suction systems designed for this purpose.

Smoke-Free Facility

Fira Barcelona is a smoke-free facility which includes vaping & electronic cigarettes. 

Wi-Fi

Wireless internet is available throughout the expo floor at no cost for all exhibitors and attendees. Wi-Fi bandwidth congestion can occur on-site during peak hours, so if you are streaming a video or presentation and uninterrupted bandwidth is vital, we recommend purchasing a dedicated internet drop for your stand through Servifira or email seafood.internet@firabarcelona.com.
